Home of the Palmetto Paso Finos, the Gaston Farm Road Equestrian Center offers horse lovers of all ages a place to come for relaxation, fun and learning to ride, including their 5-day Camp Geronimo, English and Western riding lessons, Open Horse shows, 4-H Horse Club and more.

Lake Monticello

Lake Monticello

This 7,000-acre lake offers picnic shelters, fishing, a boat ramp and various other recreational activities. In addition, families can enjoy the Monticello Recreation Lake, a small, 300-acre lake which offers fishing, swimming, picnic facilities and a 1.5-mile nature trail.

Lake Wateree

The largest lake in Fairfield County, Lake Wateree is a premier fishing and boating destination for residents. In addition, the 238-acre Lake Wateree State Recreation Area features a 21-mile, 13,700-acre reservoir which is a popular fishing spot along with 72 campsites and a playground.

Lake Murray

Considered the “Jewel” of the Midlands, Lake Murray offers sailing, waterskiing, boating, dining, camping and fishing along 500 miles of shoreline and 50,000 acres of water. Plus, the Lake Murray Dam Pedestrian Walkway is a 1.7 mile stretch offering spectacular views.

Where the Broad, Saluda, and Congaree Rivers meet, there’s the Three Rivers Greenway, a 9.5-mile series of riverfront pathways which includes lighted trails and boardwalks, outdoor amphitheaters, and breathtaking views of downtown Columbia.

Parks + Nature Preserves

Anne Close Springs Greenway

The Greenway is a 2,100-acre nature preserve in Fort Mill featuring a 40-mile trail system for horseback riders, hikers and mountain bikers plus kayaking, canoeing & fishing along the northern side of Lake Haigler.

Cherry Park

Showcasing scenic trails, a large playground and numerous amenities, Cherry Park is Rock Hill’s premier softball/baseball facility which provides year-round athletic programs for both youth and adults.

Manchester Meadows

One of Rock Hill’s newest parks, Manchester Meadows’ 70-acre park features soccer fields, trails, a soccer pavilion, various park amenities and annually hosts local, regional and national soccer tournaments.

Chester State Park

Fishing, boating, camping or playing golf, the entire family will enjoy this 523-acre park, which features a 160-acre lake, picnic shelters, two playgrounds for the children to enjoy and the 1.3-mile Caney Fork Creek Nature Trail.

Landsford Canal State Park

Each year, the 448-acre, historic Landsford Canal State Park welcomes the largest population of Rocky Shoals spider lilies in the world. In addition to this stunning display, visitors enjoy the 1.5-mile Canal Trail, picnics, group gatherings and special events.

Sumter National Forest

Stretching over 253,381 acres, Sumter National Forest connects with trails and forests in both North Carolina and Georgia. A mecca for hikers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts, patrons of the Forest also enjoy canoeing, fishing, rafting, target shooting, camping and much more.

Congaree National Park

In addition to being a designated Wilderness Area, an International Biosphere Reserve, a Globally Important Bird Area and a National Natural Landmark, Congaree is home to a museum quality exhibit area, a 2.4-mile boardwalk trail and over 20 miles of back-country hiking trails.

Sesquicentennial State Park

Affectionately known to the locals as “Sesqui,” this spacious, green getaway in the heart of the Midlands boasts of 1,400 acres of pines, camping sites and nature trails. Plus, visitors can rent a kayak/canoe, go fishing, walk along two nature trails or ride the 6-mile bicycle loop.

Andrew Jackson State Park

The popular Andrew Jackson State Park has something for everyone, including walking and hiking trails, a museum, a playground for the kids, as well as a pond for a relaxing family picnic, canoeing and paddle boating. Programs include a museum, living history and interactive exhibits chronicling Jackson’s boyhood in the SC backcountry.

Riverfront Park + Historic Columbia Canal

The site of Columbia’s original waterworks, this 167-acre park offers a popular jogging and walking trail which runs 2.5-miles along the river. Plus, it’s home to several annual events including Riverfest and Greekfest and various concerts in the outdoor, brick amphitheater.

The Rock Hill Aquatic Center is a state-of-the-art 10-lane, 25-yard Paddock competition pool, which is home to where the widely-respected RAYS Swim Team of the Upper Palmetto YMCA hosts several local, state, and regional competitions.

Located in more than 7,000 acres of state and national parks, this Camp features a 66-acre private lake ideal for its resident camp for children ages 6-14 as well as canoeing, soil study, low ropes course work and hiking.
